If thoughts become things, why don’t we have what we seek?
Ask/Receive. Seems pretty simple, doesn’t it?
I know lots of people who believe that affirmations work.
So why don’t we have what we asked for?
Some thoughts about that:
Maybe the algorithm for getting what we want looks different than a simple Ask/Receive.
What if we DO have what we want … and what if it looks different from the way we thought it would?
Or maybe we’re getting something better? Or better for us.
Or even, better for the world?
What if we trusted that that the Universe presents all events for the greater good? Ours or even those around us? Because sometimes what happens is not for us at all.
I get how hard this is to swallow when tragedy befalls us. Sometimes, the cost of the lesson can be high, indeed.
But think about this: if we have faith, if we believe in a Divine Being, that there is more to life than what we experience on this plane of existence, then it’s worth taking a closer look at what’s going on. Taking a broader view.
There’s more going on than just what we can see right now.
Sometimes, holding on to that faith makes all the difference.

I do believe that manifestation with good intention and work put behind it does work. The hard part is not getting discourages before you see results.
Yes, and point of view.
I do believe there’s a reason for everything, and that sometimes we may never get an answer. But I also wonder about things like the 34 year old woman in my community who is now a widow, thanks to COVID. (She also contracted it, but survived.) I’ve had a couple of limited interactions with her (she and I both belong to a group on Facebook) and she seems to be such a good person…so of course, I ask, in capital letters, why her? Why her late husband?
Yes, exactly. That is one of the most challenging parts of this. A few things. This might have been something that her late husband chose as part of being in soul school there. It might have been for his growth, her growth or some other reason. It is never a punitive thing, although with our limited view, that is often how we see it. It’s hard to look at thing we consider “bad” more expansively.
Such an interesting question. I agree that everything happens for a reason, although its hard to understand from our limited perspective.
As usual, Laurie, you hit the nail head on.
“maybe we do have what we want…” Indeed. I can think of numerous instances when I was disappointed with how things turned out, but in hindsight, they were for the best. Great post.
“Sometimes I thank God, for unanswered prayers…”
I absolutely believe that there is a higher power watching over us. And that we do get answers when we seek. As you said, they aren’t always what we asked for, but I think they are what we need. Sometimes it takes years to see. But “holding onto that faith makes all the difference”!
Beautifully said, Carol!
Yes, I think that is key. Our greatest good is not always obvious to us.
What a beautiful post.
I do think there’s more to it than just asking the universe and waiting. Receiving is an active process.
It can take some.digging deep to see the gift .
