0Nothing gets as much traction on my social media than the content I post about forgiveness. It is a universal that resonates with so many of us.
I read some wise words on forgiveness Mark Nepo wrote and he said it so well (as usual) that I have nothing to add. So I’ll just drop it here.
In order to keep the fire for justice burning, we need to keep burning our wounds open as perpetual evidence. Living like this, it is impossible to heal….we become our own version of Prometheus, having our innards eaten daily by some large bird of woundedness.
The mystery of true forgiveness waits in letting go of our ledgers of injustice and retribution in order to regain the feeling in our heart.
I start each day with a reading from Mark Nepo’s The Book of Awakening. Find it here.
Nice to know about the book and that so many people are interested in that topic. Holding a grudge isn’t healthy for sure.
Forgiveness can be difficult but necessary. It gets easier as we get older and life gets shorter.
Love the picture, keep staring at it. Thoughtful quote.
I know. Me, too!
A worthwhile quote.
Wow. This: “in order to regain the feeling in our heart.” I didn’t know of this Mark Nepo, but now I must know more.
He is brilliant. I love every word he writes.
I love Mark Nepo. A lovely post, Carol. Forgiveness sometimes requires repetition, but eventually we are free. Love Ho’oponopono. Check it out if you aren’t familiar with it.
He is an amazing thinker. Yes, I do now Ho’o… thank you! as usual, same page.
Oh, yes! Let go and heal. How easy to say.
How difficult to do!
So many of us tend to clutch our hurts close. Like little, sad dollies.
Love this, Carol!
I love that image, Diane.
Love the image you’ve chosen for these wise words. And I (the world) really needs to hear this right now. Thank you.
I won’t pretend it’s easy. but so necessary
