get-throughSomething You Get Through

When you lose the one you love
You think your world has ended
You think your world will be a waste of life
Without them in it
You feel there’s no way to go on
Life is just a sad, sad song
But love is bigger than us all
The end is not the end at all

It’s not somethin’ you get over
But it’s somethin’ you get through
It’s not ours to be taken
It’s just a thing we get to do
Life goes on and on
And when it’s gone
It lives in someone new
It’s not somethin’ you get over
But it’s somethin’ you get through
~Willie Nelson & Buddy Cannon

Have you felt this way? I have.

The universal wisdom of Willie’s beautiful and comforting new song, Something You Get Through (link below), expresses the road each of us travels when we lose someone–a lover, a child, a parent, a pet.

We never get over loss–but we do get through it. Eventually. In our own time.

Here’s the lyric that brought tears to my eyes:

Life goes on and on
And when it’s gone
It lives in someone new

Yes. We never forget out loved one, but we have all that love to give. And when it’s time, we can bring it to live with someone new.

When he sings that “love is bigger than us all” it’s true….so “the end is not the end at all“… and it’s even more poignant when sung by a man in the sunset of his years.

I don’t think I’ve ever heard a song that sums up life, death, loss and grief as well as Willie’s new one.

You can hear the song and then I hope you’ll buy the new album.
