You’ve seen this. I know you have. But you’ve probably never considered it as a super-effective way to combat anxiety or insomnia. Here’s how to break it down into a helpful meditation mantra to treat anxiety and insomnia.
Settle into a quiet place, maybe your bed. Close your eyes and take a deep breath in through your nose, exhale long and full through your mouth. Do this half a dozen times or more.
And then, begin. Take your time. Focus only on the words, in the order I’ve presented them. If outside thoughts come up, simply notice them and direct your focus back to the words. Just follow the words. See them. Take them in. Feel them.
Be.
Your first focus is the word “Be.” Continue to breath in deeply and exhale fully as you think of the word “be”. Visualize it. Think of it. After about a half a dozen breaths meditating on the word “be” or when you are ready move on.
Be still.
Your next thought is “Be still.” Continue your breathing as you focus on the phrase “be still” and as you do, actually feel still.
Be still and know.
When you are ready, move on to “Be still and know.” Let that be your mantra as you continue to breathe. See the words in your mind’s eye. Let your body relax into it, into the stillness.
Be still and know that I am.
Next, use “Be still and know that I am.” Again, take your time meditating on that as you breathe deeply in and out. Let the words roll across your mind. See them. And feel yourself connected to the I am.
Be still and know that I am God.
Finally, as you continue to take slow, deep breaths, focus on the entire mantra: “Be still and know that I am God.” As you breathe and focus on the mantra, feel your connection with what is and what always will be.

I struggle with both of these. I will try this and see if it works. It’s hard to find a quiet place here.
I don’t have trouble sleeping! Will share that with a friend who often talks about sleep depravation!
I love the idea of using mantras to help anxiety. Focusing on a soothing phrase sounds like it would be really helpful.
This is a very powerful way to help with anxiety. Most people with anxiety have a problem with “being still” so to make them repeat the mantra to instill “stillness” would help program their subconscious mind to do so is amazing!
This sounds like a great help for those battling anxiety. Thanks for sharing this! Would love to try it too.
This is starting to happen to me as I get older. I am so going to try mantra’s. I hope this will help my anxiety!

me, too!

It is so important to stay rooted in scripture. It helps my pray life and how I conduct my days.

This is a great and healing mantra. Sometimes I listen to an app before bed that helps me sleep called Calm. They also do little meditative exercises like this.
I deal with insomnia often. Usually I read a book or take a bubble bath to relax and get to sleep. Sounds like a great mantra!
I can’t remember the last time I slept through the night. It sure hasn’t happened this year. I’m going to use your tips and check out the audibles.

I would recommend this to people who deal with insomnia. I haven’t had to deal with it, and can’t imagine living with limited sleep. Great suggestions.

This is going to be so helpful to so many people. Stress is already terrible for making the days seem to go on forever, but it’s even worse when the night comes, and you can’t sleep.
I don’t have anxiety, but I do have issues falling asleep from time to time. Thank you for sharing this. I think it’s going to be a big help!

I generally sleep well but I do suffer with anxiety in some situations so this mantra might be something to try. I will see in the next few days how it works with the different times I experience anxiety.
I definitely have a hard time sleeping and I’m always up for trying something. This is definitely one that I say often to myself. It relaxes me and it’s comforting.

I need this OMGoodness!! I have the worst insomnia some nights. I’m going to try this out.
I know when I get anxious, that I must relax. I usually read a book, and that helps calm me down. Or I’ll eat tons of chocolate. That helps too 😉

I rarely have insomnia but if I ever do, this will be a great way to become calm and relaxed. That’s one of my favorite verses.
